Congrats, EVIT!
Honor Society
Did you know that career and technical education students have their own National Technical Honor Society? Nearly 200 EVIT students will be inducted into the NTHS this spring at several ceremonies at the Main and Power campuses. To qualify for NTHS, EVIT students must have letters of recommendation, completion of 15 hours of community service, three or fewer absences, and must maintain a 3.75 GPA at EVIT.
RISE Scholars
EVIT partner College Bound AZ recognized over 140 EVIT students this week who will be going on to Arizona State University as RISE Scholars in engineering, business, technology, education or health services. Through the RISE Scholars program, College Bound AZ helps ensure students transition to college successfully and receive scholarships to finance their education. Eligible low-income students receive four years paid tuition and fees at ASU. College Bound AZ also presented new Dell laptop computers to 40 deserving students. Thank you to College Bound AZ Executive Director Elizabeth Paulus for all you do to improve the lives of EVIT students!
2021 EVIT Completion Ceremonies
EVIT is pleased to announce that we will have two traditional Completion Ceremonies in May to celebrate the accomplishments of our program completers. Both ceremonies will be at Chicago Cubs’ Sloan Park Stadium in Mesa. The ceremony for EVIT Power Campus and Apache Junction Campus will be 7 p.m., May 17, and the ceremony for EVIT Main Campus and Fountain Hills Campus will be 7 p.m., May 18. Over 1,700 EVIT students will complete their career training programs this spring.
Connor’s story
EVIT alum Connor Boucher loves working on big Caterpillar scrapers and other heavy machinery at Rummel Construction Inc. But he wouldn’t have completed his career training in EVIT’s Diesel Technologies program or land his dream job without a state-funded CTED Completer Grant. Over the past three years, CTED Completer Grants have allowed nearly 500 EVIT students to complete their career training in the year after they graduate from high school.
