Best school, best teachers
Readers of the East Valley Tribune have once again voted the East Valley Institute of Technology as the Best Public School/District in Mesa! EVIT health sciences instructor Tammy Powers was also voted Best High School Teacher. Jared Bodine, Digital Device Diagnostic & Repair instructor, and Jerry Coy, health sciences instructor, received honorable mentions in the Tribune’s annual contest.
 

Thank you, advisory members!
EVIT is hosting its 2023 Occupational Advisory Committee Banquet at 5 p.m., April 5 at the Main Campus to recognize members of business and industry who volunteer their time to provide guidance and support to our programs. Over 80 industry reps are expected to attend, and one will be honored with the Outstanding Business Professional Award. EVIT is grateful for all businesses and industries that support our career training programs. Thank you!

State medalists
EVIT students are medaling & placing in state competitions. In the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) competitions, Commercial Baking & Pastry Arts students earned three silver medals and a first place in cake decorating, and Culinary Arts students placed first in the Mise en Place Challenge and Mystery Basket Challenge and second in Chicken Fabrication, and earned one silver and two bronze medals. Also at FCCLA, Fashion Design students won two gold medals and a silver medal, and Interior Design students won a silver and a bronze. At the Educators Rising competition, Early Childhood Education students won a gold medal and a silver medal, and 12 students placed in the top 10. At the state HOSA Future Health Professionals competition, EVIT students earned three 1st places, four 2nd places, nine 3rd places, and nine 4th/5th places. Students who placed first, second or third will be moving on to the international HOSA competition in June.


2023 EVIT Completion Ceremonies
Planning is under way for this year’s Completion Ceremonies to recognize high school students and adults who are completing EVIT programs. The ceremonies will be 7 p.m., May 15-16 at Cubs Stadium Sloan Park, 2330 W. Rio Salado Parkway, Mesa. Approximately 2,500 students are completing EVIT programs this year.
