Topping ceremony
Arizona’s next generation of steel fabricators in EVIT’s Welding program will experience a centuries-old construction tradition when they take part in a special topping ceremony April 3 at Chandler’s SteelFab Inc. The ceremony will unveil Arizona’s first American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) sculpture constructed by EVIT students from steel provided by SteelFab. A beam will be signed and raised with the tradition of attaching a Christmas tree and American flag before its final placement. SteelFab officials hope this education marker will generate enthusiasm for their industry.
