Roundtable with Secretary of Labor
The East Valley Institute of Technology will be featured Thursday, Aug. 8 in a “Roundtable on Opportunity Infrastructure & Good Jobs in Phoenix” with U.S. Acting Secretary of Labor Julie Su. Superintendent Dr. Chad Wilson will be on the panel that will be discussing efforts to expand pathways to in-demand jobs for women, young people and Latino workers. EVIT was recently awarded $6 million from the Department of Labor to create a hub for registered apprenticeships across Arizona for high school and adult students.

In the news: New mascot, new RN degree
FOX10 came out to the EVIT Main Campus this morning to introduce viewers to Ofi, EVIT’s new Bernese Mountain Dog mascot. FOX10 also reported on EVIT’s new associate degree program for students who want to become registered nurses. The first cohort is full and starts later this month. Social buzz
This summer, a Gilbert mom asked in a Facebook parent group if her son should attend EVIT. Her post generated over 300 comments, nearly all of them positive. Here’s a few: “My husband and myself graduated from EVIT back in 2005/2006 and we both own businesses in our study field from EVIT.” “I’ve hired multiple kids from EVIT for my various businesses and they were always terrific workers.” “My son went to EVIT ( Fire Science) all through high school and is now a captain for Mesa Fire Department! I'm not sure what he would be doing had he not gone that route!”

Thank you for your support in helping EVIT change lives.
