National spotlight
We were pleased last week to give tours of EVIT to educators from around the nation who were in Phoenix for the Association for Career and Technical Education’s Career Tech VISION 2023 conference. Time and again our guests commented on the quality of students we serve. It's a tribute to the quality work not only happening at our central campuses, but also in our partnering districts. We had the opportunity to give a presentation at the conference on EVIT’s initiatives to better serve students in foster care and to offer associate degrees. We hope to have a ribbon-cutting for our foster youth dormitory in the spring and plan to begin our first associate degree in January.

EVIT satellites
We have appreciated the opportunity this semester to tour the satellite CTE programs offered in high schools in the EVIT Career Technical Education District. It’s been encouraging to see so many quality programs. As we have seen in our central campus programs, there are also areas that can be improved. We look forward to working with our districts to ensure all programs are high quality.

Fantasy Hair Show
Over 350 Cosmetology and Aesthetics students at the EVIT Power Campus, 6625 S. Power Road in Mesa, are getting ready for their annual Fantasy Hair Show, 4 to 6 p.m., Friday, Dec. 8. The students transform the Power Campus into an art gallery of elaborate displays featuring posed models, hairstyles, makeup and costumes. Tickets are $5 (cash only); children 5 and younger can attend free.

Working with industry
EVIT’s Student Career Services Department has been hard at work developing partnerships with local business and industry to provide our students with internships, clinicals and training that meets the latest standards. Our new internship and clinical program has over 300 affiliations with over 170 industry partners.

Industry teachers
A major part of what makes EVIT a great experience for students is the industry experience our instructors bring into the classroom. Because they have worked as pilots, nurses, chefs and more, they can better relate to students what it’s like to work in those occupations. Learn more: https://bit.ly/3R7TK99.
