Coming soon: Vet Tech Associate Degree
EVIT has taken the first steps toward offering a veterinary technician associate degree. The governing board gave administration the OK Monday night to start developing the program to submit for accreditation approval. If approved, EVIT would begin offering the associate degree in 2026 at the Power Campus where facilities for the Veterinary Assistant program were recently renovated and expanded. EVIT currently offers associate degrees in Nursing and Surgical Technology.
Governing board leadership
On Monday, the EVIT Governing Board unanimously elected member Amber McAffee as Board President and member Peter Boyle as Board Clerk for 2025. Congratulations!
Board vacancies
There are two open seats on the EVIT Governing Board – District 4 and District 9. Registered voters residing in those districts may submit a letter of interest to board secretary Tammy Norris at 1601 West Main Street, Mesa, AZ 85201 or by emailing tnorris@evit.edu. Maps for each district can be found at this link: https://www.evit.edu/about-evit/governing-board. Deadline to submit a letter of interest is 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17. The board will select candidates at its Jan. 27 meeting to submit to the Maricopa County School Superintendent, who will make the final decision.
Superintendent Boggs
The District 9 seat on the EVIT Governing Board is open because member Shelli Boggs, who has served on the EVIT board since 2019, was elected Maricopa County School Superintendent in November. We thank Superintendent Boggs for her years of service to EVIT and wish her the best of luck in her new role.
EVIT Expo
Families and students can explore career education options at EVIT during the annual “EVIT Expo -- Your Future, Your Way” event 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Jan. 25 at the Main Campus, 1601 W. Main St., Mesa. This year’s expo will showcase all 50 career training programs offered at the Main and Power campuses, and highlight several new programs: The STEM Academy in partnership with Boeing, Honeywell and Intel, paid apprenticeship programs, and a Fire Science Academy opening at Scottsdale’s Coronado High School in July.
Thank you for your support in helping EVIT change lives.
