June 2025 - Superintendent's Update
June 9, 2025
Congrats, Class of 2025!
In May, EVIT celebrated a milestone -- its largest graduating class to date. More than 3,000 students were honored as program completers during ceremonies held over three nights at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick in Scottsdale. Families packed the stadium each evening to cheer on the graduates, and even EVIT’s beloved mascot, Ofi, joined the celebration. Watch the highlights in our recap video: EVIT Completion Recap
Up next: Surg Tech graduation
In August, EVIT will confer its first associate degrees on graduates of the Surgical Technology program. In 2022, EVIT led lobbying efforts to allow Arizona’s Career Technical Education Districts (CTEDs) to offer associate degrees. EVIT now offers degrees in Surgical Technology and Registered Nursing. We are proud to be conferring our first degrees on the Surg Tech Class of 2025!
NEW: Vet Tech Associate Degree
EVIT plans to start offering our third associate degree program in Veterinary Technology in 2026. We are seeking a veterinarian to lead the program as Director/Instructor. If you know of a veterinarian who might be interested in this opportunity, please have them apply at: Veterinary Technology Director.
STEM Academy
The new STEM Academy at EVIT will start in July. Already, over 600 students are enrolled in the academy’s Aircraft Mechanics, Aviation, Future Engineers and High-Tech Manufacturing tracks. The STEM Academy will prepare students for employment upon completion of their program. Thank you to our industry partners Boeing, Honeywell and Intel for making this new kind of STEM education possible for East Valley students.
EVIT alum becomes Harvard grad
We would like to offer our congratulations to Kylie Hunts-in-Winter on her recent graduation from Harvard. Kylie completed EVIT’s Criminal Justice program and was named EVIT Student of the Year in 2021. According to the Harvard Gazette, she studied sociology and Ethnicity, Migration, Rights, and plans to pursue public social work with Native American communities in the Boston area.
Thank you for your support in helping EVIT change lives.
