March 2024 - Superintendent's Update
March 1, 2024
Associate degree update
EVIT’s Associate of Applied Science (AAS) Surgical Technology program will start the next new cohort in April. EVIT also has signed articulation agreements with DeVry, University of Phoenix and Walden University. This means that EVIT course credits will transfer to those schools and can be used toward the next degree. Additional associate degree programs are in development and we will be starting them soon.
HopeTech
Thank you to everyone, especially Gov. Katie Hobbs, who came to our Beam Signing Ceremony for HopeTech, the housing for foster care students under construction at the EVIT Main Campus. We appreciate everyone’s support as we embark on this project to help our community’s most vulnerable youth. You can read Gov. Hobbs’ full remarks here: https://bit.ly/3P3rrIN
Bringing home gold
It’s the time of year when EVIT students get a chance to show off their skills in competitions. At the recent SkillsUSA Region 3 Leadership and Skills Conference, EVIT students won 10 gold, eight silver and 10 bronze medals. In the recent CCAP (Careers through Culinary Arts Program) competition, four EVIT seniors placed and are going on to finals, and three of our juniors scored in the Top 10.
Thank you, industry
EVIT will recognize and celebrate the invaluable contributions of our advisory board members at our Advisory Banquet March 6 at the Power Campus. Guests will include representatives from all industry sectors, such as education, business and community organizations. We are grateful for their dedication and support.
