Nov. 14, 2024
Be an apprenticeship site
In July, the U.S. Department of Labor awarded EVIT a $6 million grant to create a statewide registered apprenticeship hub for high school and adult students in Arizona. Paid apprenticeship programs in Electrical, HVACR (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration), Plumbing and Structural Metal Fabricator (Welding) will start in January. Employers interested in being an apprenticeship site should contact program coordinator Lindsey Gregor at lgregor@evit.edu or (480) 461-4016.

It’s that time of year again when you can purchase pies, rolls, and more from EVIT’s Commercial Baking & Pastry Arts and Culinary Arts programs for your Thanksgiving dinner. Orders are being accepted until Nov. 20 at this link: evit-culinary-bakery.square.site. Pick-up will be 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Nov. 25-26 in the lobby of the Culinary Arts building at the Main Campus. Thank you, EVIT Foundation
The EVIT Foundation raised $173,000 this week at its annual fundraiser and silent auction, with breakfast prepared and served by EVIT’s Culinary Arts students. The foundation provides scholarships for low-income students to pay their program fees. We are grateful to the foundation for their ongoing support of EVIT students. Thank you!
Serving our veterans
EVIT has started a series of initiatives to help veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces succeed through career and technical education, including additional support services, financial aid and scholarship guidance, and job placement support to connect veterans with local employers. If you know a veteran who would be interested in career training, paid apprenticeships or earning an associate degree, please have them contact Admissions Director Cris Manzo at cmanzo@evit.edu or (480) 461-4013 for more information. If they’re ready to apply, they can do so at www.evit.edu/enrollnow.
National radio honors
Congrats to EVIT’s radio station 88.7FM The Pulse and the Radio/Audio Production program for their recent awards in the national 2023-24 John Drury High School Radio Awards. Senior Lenore Carey won Best Sportscast and 2024 alum Adam Beadle won Best Sports Talk Show. Instructor Dave Juday was named a finalist for Best Station Advisor and The Pulse was a finalist for Radio Station of the Year.
Thank you for your support in helping EVIT change lives.
