EVIT’s first associate degree
We are pleased to announce that the East Valley Institute of Technology will be offering its first associate degree – an Associate of Applied Science in Surgical Technology – beginning in January. The surg tech associate degree program has been approved by the EVIT Governing Board and EVIT’s higher education accreditor, the Council on Occupational Education. Arizona Capitol Times webinar
Superintendent Dr. Chad Wilson, Chief Academic Officer Dr. Ronda Doolen and state Deputy Associate Superintendent Kevin Imes will be the panelists on an Arizona Capitol Times Morning Scoop webinar at 8 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 17. The panelists and Capitol Times Executive Editor Gary Grado will discuss how career and technical education can play a key role in improving Arizona’s education attainment levels. Power Campus Showcase
The public is invited to attend the grand opening of EVIT’s expanded and renovated Power Campus, 6625 S. Power Road, Mesa, during the Power Showcase and Ribbon Cutting event 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 21. The approximate $44 million project includes an aviation hangar, expanded veterinary facility and much more. Guests will be able to tour the campus, meet instructors and learn more about the CTE programs offered there.


Best of the Best
Technology Device Maintenance instructor Jared Bodine has been voted by readers of the East Valley Tribune as the Best High School Teacher in the East Valley. Health sciences instructor Tammy Powers placed third. Bodine and Powers will be featured in the Tribune’s Best of the Best edition on Oct. 29.

Enrollment starts Nov. 1
EVIT will begin enrolling students for the 2024-25 school year on Nov. 1. Applications can be submitted then at www.evit.com/enrollnow.
