IGA Update
EVIT is waiting for the court to rule on our request for judgment on the pleadings in a lawsuit filed by nine East Valley school districts against the EVIT Career Technical Education District (CTED). The districts sued EVIT late last year when intergovernmental agreement (IGA) negotiations broke down. In the meantime, HB4034, which would clarify the definitions of CTED programs, accountability and funding, and hopefully prevent such lawsuits, passed the House Education and Rules Committees, but will likely be amended before going to the House floor. We appreciate the efforts of bill sponsor Rep. Matt Gress to consider all stakeholders’ viewpoints. You can follow the legislation’s progress at this link: HB4034.

Innovation & Accountability
The Arizona Progress & Gazette political blog features a recent interview with EVIT Superintendent Dr. Chad Wilson: “In CTE, and in education more broadly, innovation and accountability must go hand in hand. We cannot improve outcomes without innovation, and innovation only matters if it leads to measurable results … Our work must ultimately be accountable to the students and families we serve and to the taxpayers who fund it.” READ: Dr. Wilson Q&A.

National Radio Honors
Students and alumni in EVIT’s Radio/Audio Production program won four national high school radio awards at the 2025-26 Intercollegiate Broadcasting System High School Media Awards. Senior Kairis Boyles won Best Sports Update and Matthew Cavazos won Best Sports Talk Program. Alumni Lenore Carey and Julia Garner won Best Public Affairs Program, and alum Brandon Neyenhuis was named Best Student Program Director. Congratulations!

A Launchpad for Nursing
EVIT’s Nursing Assistant program not only prepares students to become CNAs, but also makes a great first step for those who would like to become licensed practical nurses or registered nurses. READ: Program Launches Nursing Careers.

The EVIT Foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, is committed to ensuring that financial need will not prevent students from attending EVIT. Every year, the foundation provides scholarships to low-income students who need assistance in paying program fees.
