IGA Update
On July 24, the EVIT Career Technical Education District (CTED) and nine East Valley school districts signed a one-year IGA. This comes after more than a year of negotiations and legal disputes. The IGA provides a bridge for EVIT and the districts to continue working toward a longer-term solution while ensuring that students continue to have access to CTED programs offered at EVIT central campuses and the districts’ high schools.

EVIT Becomes 1st CTED to Provide Transportation
The one-year IGA also cleared the way for EVIT to become Arizona’s first CTED to provide transportation for students to central campuses by giving EVIT-provided transportation access to high schools. The EVIT Governing Board invested approximately $5 million to make a new transportation system possible after the nine districts told families in late May that they would no longer bus students to EVIT. Our first week of providing transportation had its share of issues as we worked through logistics while using a van service. On Monday, EVIT signed a two-year contract with Windstar Lines, a charter bus company experienced in working with schools, to be EVIT’s transportation provider starting today. The buses began rolling this morning, allowing EVIT to ensure that transportation is not a barrier to students being able to attend the career and technical education programs they have chosen.

Students Choose EVIT in Record Numbers
Classes for the 2026-27 school year started one week ago today at EVIT’s central campuses. Over 9,000 high school students are attending EVIT this year at the Main and Power campuses in Mesa, the Coronado Fire Science Academy in Scottsdale, and at two new specialized campuses that opened this year in partnership with Mesa Public Schools – EVIT Welding at Skyline and EVIT CNA at Red Mountain.

HopeTech Opens Doors to More Foster Youth
This summer, EVIT welcomed 35 new students to HopeTech, our Main Campus residential center for youth aging out of foster care. HopeTech provides them with a home, career education, and support as they transition into life on their own.

Nursing Program Achieves 100% Pass Rate on NCLEX
Congratulations to the EVIT Associate of Applied Science in Nursing program: All students in the program’s first graduating class in April passed the National Council Licensure Examination for registered nurses. EVIT will celebrate the program’s second graduating class later this month. EVIT is the first CTED to offer associate degrees.
