Excellence in Career & Technical Education
New stats from the Arizona Department of Education show EVIT Main & Power campuses are outperforming the rest of the state on key CTE indicators:
- % students earning industry credentials – EVIT, nearly 93% (2,109 students); Arizona, 85.92%
- % students passing state Technical Skills Assessments – EVIT, 92% (2,432 students); Arizona, 76.27%
- % students placed in jobs, college or military – EVIT, over 80% (1,900 students); Arizona, 70.61%
EVIT’s percentages are impressive, but what’s even more meaningful is that EVIT strives to test all students — not just those expected to perform well on assessments.
True Heroes
We are always proud of our EVIT students, but never more so than in September, when three Power Campus Welding students became real-life heroes. Robert Collins, Z Green, and Xavier Guzman had just left campus after school when they came upon a car that had flipped upside down. When they stopped to help, they discovered a student trapped inside, and a fire quickly spreading. Without hesitation, they pulled the student from the wreck just before the vehicle was engulfed in flames. Thank you, Robert, Z, and Xavier, for your courage and quick action. You embody the very best of EVIT.
New Apprenticeship Sites in Queen Creek
EVIT has partnered with the Alliance of Battery Equipment Contractors (ABEC) to deliver a specialized workforce training program for the LG Energy Solution battery factory construction project in Queen Creek. The contractors will welcome paid apprentices from EVIT’s Electrical, Plumbing, and Structural Metal Fabrication and Fitting (Welding) programs. This project will create jobs that strengthen and expand the workforce in Queen Creek and Arizona.
Coronado Fire Science Academy in the News
FOX10 and KTAR Radio visited the new Fire Science Academy at Coronado High School in September. The academy is a partnership between EVIT and the Scottsdale Unified School District, Scottsdale Fire Department and Scottsdale Charros. Thank you, SUSD and Scottsdale Fire, for helping coordinate the news coverage of this program and its impact on the Coronado community. WATCH: FOX10 at Coronado Fire Academy. WATCH: KTAR Coverage

At age 20, Nate Kulpa started his own business after completing the EVIT Automotive Technologies program a couple years earlier. Today, Wild Child Classic Cars is a thriving British classic car repair shop in Tempe. READ: Nate’s Story. WATCH: Student to Shop Owner
