Surgical Technology (Certificate) Program Information

Description:

Surgical technologists play a crucial role in the operating room, serving as invaluable assistants to the surgeon during surgical procedures. Their responsibilities encompass a wide range of tasks, including the passing of surgical instruments, the preparation of specialized equipment including robots, the careful positioning of the surgical patient, and assistance as directed by the surgeon. They ensure the stability of vital organs, or manage retractors. In addition, Surgical Technologists may be tasked with holding retractors and laparoscopes, operating suction devices, and receiving, labeling, and passing medications to the surgeon, and applying dressings.
